Building a back pattern

From point B, set aside BB1 = 8.5 cm to the left. From point P, set aside PP2 = 3.5 cm to the right and down 3 cm. Draw a 20 cm long back shoulder line and a back armhole line similar to the shelf.

Belt loops are located along the side line at a distance of 10 cm from the bottom point of the armhole. The length of the belt loops is 14 cm - 2 belt loops of 7.5 cm each (depending on the level of the waist line, you can thread the belt into the upper or lower belt loops). The back is cut with a fold in the center. Transfer the hem onto tracing paper and cut it out separately.

You don't have to be a professional seamstress to sew a dressing gown. You can sew a cozy robe without a pattern. We choose good and beautiful fabric. It can be cotton fabric with or without a print, it can be viscose, it can be silk. There are a lot of options. It is better to pre-wash and iron the fabric.

Let's start from complex to simple

How to sew a kimono robe

The kimono robe is not cut at the waist, it is spacious and long. Three-quarter length sleeves are wide and comfortable. The neckline and edges of the sides are edged with two wide, double-folded trims. The robe does not have a fastener; it wraps itself and is tied at the waist with a belt made of finishing fabric.

Size: 48-50. Using the proposed pattern, you can sew a robe for yourself and for your husband.

You will need:

  • fabric (cotton, corduroy, satin, silk): with a width of 1.50 m - 2.40 m, with a width of 0.90 m - about 4 m;
  • bias tape 10 cm wide and 3.30 m long.

Cut: Lay out the patterns on the fabric, taking into account the direction of the grain thread. Seam allowances - 1-1.5 cm, hem allowances - 4 cm.

1. Shelf - 2 parts.
2. Back - 1 piece with a fold.
3. Sleeve - 2 parts.
4. Belt - 1 piece.
5. Bias tape for sleeves - 2 parts.
6. Bias tape for shelves - 1 piece.

Description of work:

Sew shoulder seams. Press seam allowances towards the back.
Sew the sleeve into the open armholes, aligning the reference marks. Press seam allowances towards sleeves.

Sew the side seams in one line at the same time as the sleeve seams. Iron the seams to the shelves. In places where the seams are rounded, when ironing, slightly pull the shelves with an iron. This is done so that the fabric does not tighten in these places.

Sew the bindings, fold them in half lengthwise and iron the folds. Fold the trim and robe right sides together and sew the seam using a machine. Fold the trim in half, fold it under, and sew it on by hand using a blind stitch. You can sew both bindings to the front side using a machine, but by hand it turns out more neatly and the seam does not turn out.

Finish the sleeves in the same way.

Stitch the belt, cut off the corners and turn it onto the face. Sew the remaining open seam to the edge, folding 1 cm inward on each side. Iron the waistband and stitch it to the side seam.

Tip: if the robe is made of a plain fabric, you can sew a pocket to it. In this case, the pocket and back can be decorated with embroidery.

If the fabric of the robe has a pattern, then the bias tape should be plain and harmonize with the color of the fabric.

For such a robe, you can take a light fabric or terry towel and you will get a soft bathrobe, which will be pleasant to wrap yourself in after taking a bath or shower.

Simple robe patterns

Pattern for a robe dress based on an oval (you can also make it into a rectangle).

This robe can be worn not only at home. And if you sew a robe from a beautiful knitted fabric, you will get a chic evening dress. Watch the video lesson at the end of the article.

Take a piece of fabric 150 by 150 centimeters. This fabric size will allow you to create a dress for a figure up to size 52. To create an armhole, you need to measure the width of the back. Cut an oval from a square of fabric. Visually we divide it in half. From the top edge we put points 25 centimeters on each side and mark them. This will be the upper border of the armhole. We make the armhole at our discretion, but in general twenty centimeters is enough. We process the edges with either bias tape, lace, or a knitted strip.

What gift should you give your beloved man? Of course, made with your own hands and with all your heart. It’s even better if this gift is useful to him. This article will describe how to sew a men's robe quickly and easily with your own hands. There is nothing complicated about this, you just need to be patient, the right materials and patterns.

You can choose different models, different materials: the robe can be either warm terry or silk - for warm summer days. To begin with, it is better to learn how to sew a regular wraparound bathrobe, and when you already have the skills, you can start making other models. A special feature that will distinguish a robe made by yourself from one bought in a store and will add a certain touch of luxury to the product is personalized embroidery. So let's get started.

How to sew a men's robe for home with your own hands

Selection of necessary materials for a bathrobe:
  • Fabric (velsoft, terry) 2-2.5 m long;
  • Tape measure;
  • Patterns for a robe;
  • Tape or braid for trimming edges;
  • Needles, threads to match the fabric, scissors;
  • A piece of soap or chalk;
  • Sewing machine.

The set of materials for sewing a men's robe quickly and efficiently with your own hands is not very extensive, but everything that is included in it will have to be purchased.

How to choose the right fabric for a robe?

Bathrobes are most often made from ordinary terry. Mahra- a fabric with a pile, which is usually made from natural materials, but artificial fibers can be added for strength. You can choose a fabric with one-sided pile - for summer, or with double-sided - it absorbs better and is pleasant to the skin after bath procedures.

Both the properties of the material and its wear resistance depend on the length of the pile: a pile that is too long will not last long and will gradually roll off, while a pile that is too short will not be able to absorb moisture and will no longer be so soft. The optimal length of the pile is 5 mm.

The density of the fabric also affects its thermal insulation properties. The higher the density (the maximum is usually about 750 g/m2). It is better to choose an average density of 400 g/m2.

You should also pay attention to the terry loops. They can be of two types: simple, which are very soft to the touch, and twisted, which are more rigid, but can also last longer.

Important! If the terry fabric is made from organic cotton, then it is hypoallergenic and suitable for people with allergies.

Another good material for a men's bathrobe is velsoft. Velsoft- This is a synthetic fabric originally from Japan. Extraordinarily soft, delicate to the touch, with light fluffy pile. A product made from this fabric will give the warmest sensations to its owner and will become the most favorite item of home comfort.

The properties of the fabric are very diverse: lightness, durability, excellent thermoregulation, hypoallergenic, easy to care for.

Pattern details:

  1. The main part of the robe - 1 pc. (combined shelves and back)
  2. Sleeves - 2 pcs.
  3. Patch pocket - 1 pc.
  4. Belt - 1 pc.
  5. Loop - 1 pc.

First you need to take your measurements; for this you will need a measuring tape:

  • OT – waist circumference;
  • OB – hip circumference;
  • OG - chest circumference;
  • DI – product length, measured from the seventh cervical vertebra;
  • DR – sleeve length.

Then you need to transfer the measurements to the patterns. An example of patterns for the front, back and sleeves, see photo below.

To create patterns, you can use tracing paper, rolled paper, or even old wallpaper.

We transfer the patterns onto the fabric.

Using chalk and or soap, you can transfer the desired sketches onto the fabric without fear of damaging it or getting dirty. Simply attach the patterns to the fabric, pin them with needles and trace along the outline. Using sharp scissors, carefully cut out the details of the product from the general fabric.

Assembling parts of a men's robe.

The first step is to fold the shelf and back with the front side facing inward. The side transverse seams are ground down. To ensure that the seams do not cause inconvenience when wearing the robe, they must be made flat - stitch the product again along the cut, bending the allowance to one side.

Then you can move on to the sleeves. The seams are made in the same way as the first ones. After assembling the sleeve, it must be sewn into the armholes. To do this, the bottom section is folded to the wrong side by 3 cm and the sleeve is sewn in at a distance of 3 mm. from the resulting fabric fold.

Using a trim or piping tape, finish the neck of the robe. Next, the parts need to be stitched and the cuts processed with bias tape.

If the product has a pocket, its upper edges must also be treated with lining tape. The remaining sides are turned to the wrong side by about 1 cm and sewn to the product. The optimal distance from the shelf to the pocket is 50 cm. In order for the pocket to hold tightly, its upper corners are stitched in the form of a triangle - a paper clip.

The robe must be completed with a belt. To do this, you need to measure a rectangle of the required length and width (optional) on the fabric. Then it is cut out and folded across, the sections are ground along the entire length, except for the middle 10-15 cm. This technique is necessary in order to turn the belt through the resulting hole to the front side. The resulting hole is closed with a hidden stitch.

Sew loops to the finished product and insert a belt. All that remains is to add the main highlight - personalized embroidery.

We create stylish personalized cross-stitch embroidery on a product

In order to perform personalized embroidery you will need a special canvas, marker, thread and needle.

Let's get started:

  • The first step is to select the area on which the personalized embroidery will be applied: back, collar, front front. A canvas is applied to the selected location;
  • Use a felt-tip pen or marker to mark the boundaries of the future inscription;
  • Now you need to select the necessary threads and start making stitches, keeping an inclination in one direction. Then go back and stitch in the other direction;
  • After completing the inscription, the threads of the canvas unravel, and the inscription remains on the product.

The men's robe with personalized embroidery is ready! Now you can present it and listen with pleasure to words of gratitude in your direction.
